Abstract
The article explores the U.S. Middle East policy of the Carter administration and the influence of the Kurdish issue on it. The author studies some problems of activity of three key movements in Kurdistan - Turkish, Iraqi and Iranian - and related issues of bilateral relations with Ankara, Baghdad and Tehran. The activities of key figures of Iraqi Kurds in the United States and their relations with representatives of the American establishment are reviewed. The interaction of the CIA with the leaders of the Kurdish national movement in Iraq, its activities in Turkish and Iranian Kurdistan are examined. The direction of Israel's influence on the building of the Kurdish policy of the Carter administration is assessed. The author shows the reasons for the reluctance of the U.S. leaders to engage in relations with the Kurdish national movement during the period under review.
