The article examines structural and syntactical peculiarities of nominative sentences and their pragmatic potential in Ray Bradbury’s novel «Dandelion Wine». Under the influence of colloquial speech, modern syntax is undergoing some changes, in Среди particular, syntactical constructions and sentences become shorter. According to this trend, the role of nominative sentences as means of communication increases. Only fragmentary research of nominative sentences in terms of communicative aspect has been performed so far in linguistic pragmatics. The most appropriate methods and techniques for covering the subject of the research are the descriptive method, the continuous sampling method as well as contextual and statistical analysis. This research helps to identify the specific field of usage of nominative sentences in a fiction text. The resulting data show that nominative sentences possess strong pragmatic potential, which is closely related to the structural and syntactical peculiarities of nominative sentences that allow their greater use in language communication.
