In 2017, the year of the 130th anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Scientific Archival Commission, it was proposed to publish the epistolary heritage of the outstanding Nizhny Novgorod local historian A.Ya. Sadovsky. This article examines his letters addressed to the honorary member of the Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Scientific Archival Commission and the Nizhny Novgorod Archeological and Ethnological Commission S.F. Platonov. These letters written during the period from 1909 to 1926 are for the first time introduced into scientific circulation in full. They allow us not only to see the warm relations between the colleagues in local history and archival work, but also to analyze the situation in the Commission during the last period of its existence and in the Nizhny Novgorod local history at the end of the «golden decade».
