The aim of this work is to present a historical-literary and biographical commentary on the letter by B.A. Sadovskoy to his sister E.A. Sadovskaya, dated March 14, 1904 and first published here. Particular attention is given to the aspects of the letter related to Sadovskoy's creative work, including his relationships with V.Ya. Bryusov and the painter O.P. Mikhailova (practically unknown to the researchers of Russian Silver Age culture). The motif of samovar, conceptually relevant for the insight into ideological background of the writer, is also emphasized. The question about the influence of G. Skovoroda’s philosophy on Sadovskoy is raised in the article. Letters by S. Gorodetsky and V. Rozhdestvensky are first laid open to the public. The study is based on the use of biographical and cultural-historical methods.
