| This paper discusses the plot about the undine in Lermontov's work. M. Lermontov’s interpretation of the plot of the water maiden is compared with that of De La Motte Fouquet and V. Zhukovsky. Five works which most clearly manifest the ideas of Lermontov’s discourse of "the water element vs man" are chosen for analysis. Based of the comparison, the author makes the conclusion regarding the dynamics of change in the genre and plot characteristics of works about the undine. |
