The article deals with the peculiarities of the twins myths in S. Rushdie's postmodern novel «The Ground Beneath Her Feet» through which the image of the protagonist Ormus Kama is revealed. By comparing the main characters - twins, Rushdie emphasizes the issue of the dual nature of man, his dark and light elements, the struggle between these elements and their significance for the people who create art. Ormus Kama's evolutionary path is considered in connection with the mythological model developed by J. Campbell. The analysis of images of the twin brothers, based on a comparison with the twins myths in terms of the plot and the motives, is complemented the study of semantics of their names taken from Iranian mythology. As the writer turns to the twins myths, he addresses the issues of art, a creative personality's evolution, its place and role in modern society.
