The article is a review of the book by E.A. Molev «The Bosporus antiquities. Problems of political, social and cultural history of the ancient Bosporus» (Nizhny Novgorod: Publishing house of Nizhny Novgorod State University, 2017). The article analyzes E.A. Molev’s texts distributed into four parts according to the subjects of his research. An assessment is made of their correspondence to the available source base and to the results of these problems' research in domestic and foreign historiography. Though not a supporter of some of E.A. Molev’s hypotheses, the author notes nevertheless that his book has already become a serious contribution to the domestic science of classical history and classical antiquities of the Northern Black Sea region.
