Based on the historiographic analysis of general and special literature, the main stages, trends and approaches to the study of the Emperor’s cult in Egypt are examined. The author comes to the conclusion that, despite the great variety of problems that have been researched to date, the examples of identification (or comparison) of the Roman ruler with the gods of the Egyptian pantheon, the peculiarities in worshiping the Genius of the Roman ruler in Egypt and relation of Fortuna Augusti/ Genius Augusti and Egyptian Ka as well as worshiping the Emperor by private individuals remain little studied.
