This study is an attempt to classify the categories of color terms on the example of the thematic group «Clothes». The proposed classification is based on the analysis of 1131 units extracted from more than 4000 contexts in print media and online media that provide information about men's and women's clothes. A detailed analysis of numerous examples allows us to build a structural-semantic classification based on differentiation of units, in terms of lexical, word-formation, sociolinguistic characteristics, morphological features, syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations. Special attention in this study is given to the combination of intralinguistic and extralinguistic features of the functioning of the units being analyzed in the modern Russian discursive practices of the 21st century.
