The article examines the imagery of phraseological units, which help to reveal moral attitudes and values and to study how ethnic mentality in manifested in the semantics in the language world picture of British-American military subculture representatives. We analyze main personality traits expressed by means of idioms that form the negative image of a soldier in the minds of native English speakers. It is concluded that the negative image of the army society is represented by phraseological units of military jargon and includes behavioral and value stereotypes.
