Abstract
On November 3, 2017, the round table "The role of Maxim Gorky's works in preserving the heritage of the Russian world" was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The participants discussed some problems related to the revision of the existing assessments of M. Gorky's personality and works, his contribution to the preservation and development of the Russian world's traditions. L. Spiridonova's and P. Yanina's reports concerned the problem of national and universal in Gorky's oeuvre; Yu. Izumrudov, O. Sukhikh, V. Plyushch addressed some aspects of creative relationships between Gorky and other artists representing the Russian world's culture. In her report, M. Urmintseva discussed new publications of Gorky's works in Nizhny Novgorod, V. Skachkova told the round table participants about the off-screen narrative of the film "Under the Sign of Scorpio", E. Matevosyan, about Gorky's home magazine, and S. Demkina informed about museum projects dedicated to the writer.
