Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze the third part of Dante’s «Divine Comedy» - «Paradiso». It is proposed to consider this part of the poem in the context of the medieval scientific picture of the world. It is noted that in «Paradiso» the contrast with other parts of the poem is sharply visible: if «Inferno» and «Purgatorio» are an experience, then «Paradiso» is a vision that cannot be represented in words or any human terms. It is shown that after the realistic representation of Inferno and Purgatorio, the interpretation of the Рaradiso has certain difficulties, Nevertheless, Paradiso is the logical continuation of Inferno and Purgatorio and the logical conclusion of the journey to the afterlife. It is concluded that Dante, long before Bacon and Descartes, approaches the idea of rational investigation, but in a peculiar, poetic form. His approach is directly related to the analogy method projected on the scientific knowledge of his time.
