The article analyzes the basic aspects of justice in modern Russia and the problems of its legal understanding in the context of the relationship with the concepts of «judicial power» and «judicial control». As a result of the study, justice is defined as the primary, though not the only, function of the judiciary. On the basis of the analysis of legal literature, which addresses the question of the relationship of justice with other functions of the judiciary and the legitimacy of distinguishing judicial control as one of such functions, along with justice, the conclusion is made that the court, when considering cases related to the implementation of judicial control, implements only the function of the administration of justice, and is not engaged in any other procedural activity where an independent function of the judiciary, other than justice, is manifested.
