The article deals with the structure and lexical filling of components of the structural scheme of the simple sentence «who/what shows itself as». Particular attention is given to the specific features of the compatibility of verbs with nominative units of different classes and to the functional productivity of this combination. According to the semantic features, the verbs are differentiated into two groups: the verb group of color formation and the verbs that have the meaning of «standing out against a background of a different color». The classification of the second component of the structural scheme, or the subjective, is analyzed in detail. Subjectives include nouns of various types (proper names, denotation of people and animals, including a definite evaluative component in their lexical meaning, denotations of inanimate objects). The names of the colors of decorative trees and bushes are noted in the position of the source of color «by what». The analysis of the material was performed using the method of continuous sampling, the descriptive method and the quantitative analysis method with statistical processing of the obtained results of the study and their comparison. The author makes the conclusion on a wide compatibility of certain verbs and a restricted compatibility of some others.
