The paper is a logical continuation of a series of articles which are devoted to the research of ideological concepts and compound names in the modern political and mass media discourse. We examine the compound name the little green men which has become popular in mass media and politics not only in Russia but also abroad. The material pertaining to the history of emergence and development of the concept is analyzed and structured by the author. The main methods used in the research include semantic analysis with a cognitive-semantic description of the word semantics, summarizing and grouping of statistical observation materials. The main goal is to reveal the features and usage frequency as well as contexts of the compound name the little green men in the modern political and mass media discourse.
