The author explores the objectives of the prosecutor's criminal prosecution, using as a starting point the scientific category of «activity», which is one of the fundamental concepts of the classical philosophical tradition. At the same time, the purpose is considered as one of the elements of the activity's subject component. A comparative legal analysis is presented of the criminal procedural legislation norms in the Soviet Union and in modern Russia that enshrine the legal category «purpose (objectives) of criminal proceedings».
