In this article, we examine the formation and development of a network of handicraft museums in Russia at the turn of the 20th century. Four groups of handicraft museums are analyzed: central; zemstvo museums; museums of societies and committees; private museums. It is noted that an extensive network of museums existed in the territory of the Russian Empire. Comprehensive financial support provided to museums was aimed at supporting peasant handicraft farmers and involving the population in handicrafts.
