The article presents an analysis of investigation situations in order to identify their types in the detection and investigation of bribery cases. By using the comparison method, we show the role of a tactical operation in exposing bribery subjects. Forensic analysis and proper assessment of situations that arise at the initial stage of detection and investigation of bribery cases will make it possible: to justify the choice of a tactical decision in accordance with the norms of law and the achievements of forensic science; to organize and plan the interaction of the investigator and the body carrying out investigative activities; to develop versions and optimize the conduct of investigative actions that are required to verify them. The development of some investigative situations may entail negative consequences for citizens who accidentally find themselves in the sphere of procedural activity, therefore, prosecutorial oversight should be scaled up with a focus on such situations.
