Abstract
The article addresses individual author's implementation of a language system, considered against the background of national culture. The study aims to provide an analysis of the text of M.A. Bulgakov’s novel "Master and Margarita" and of the linguocultural code verbalized in it. The article describes the research method metaphorically named crystallization of a precedent text . The essence of the method is to identify the language precedent (proverbs, sayings, phraseology, quotations, etc.) implicitly presented in the text («dissolved» in it) and then to integrate it into the fictional texture of the novel. The initial premise of the method is the presumption of encryption of the analyzed text. In the “coded” text, the author deliberately violates the principle of communicative cooperation, hiding the true content of his message in a deep subtext. As a result, the linguocultural code units connecting language and cultural realities are transformed beyond recognition. The article demonstrates how a veiled language precedent transpiring in a text can become the basis for revealing the author's actual intention hidden behind explicit linguistic facts. The immediate subject and starting point of the analysis is the Russian proverb V ogorode buzina, a v Kieve dyad’ka which serves as the key language means for creating and interpreting the image of M.A. Berlioz.
