The article examines the legislative initiative concerning the permission to remote retailing of medicines including selling them through the Internet. Different points of view are presented that are focused on the risks, on the one side, and the advantages of the proposed innovation, on the other side. Possible difficulties of verifying the license for pharmaceutical activities in case of remote selling of medicines are discussed. Besides, it is emphasized that the control and supervisory activities are important for ensuring the quality and safety of medicines. Particular attention is given to existing initiatives to legalize the remote sale of prescription medicines. It is concluded that remote selling of medicines can be permitted after a detailed study of the control and supervisory activities in the field of Internet trading of medicines.
