The paper reveals links with cultural linguistics in several well-known works of D.S. Likhachev. Its aim is to find the ideas of a comparatively new science in the works of an earlier time, when this science has not taken shape yet, but some of its tenets already existed. Such ideas were found in the works of D.S. Likhachev. First of all, the scholar revealed the central position of cultural linguistics, the interrelation of language and culture. Much attention is given to the notion of a concept developed by D.S. Likhachev. It is emphasized that philological science provided many elements for the groundwork of cultural linguistics as a new branch of science.
