Abstract
This article analyzes the transformation of the educational space of the Imperial School of Law in 1845-1855. The author traces the influence of the government policy in the field of education on the organization of the educational process in the School of Law. Particular attention is paid to the organization of preparation of applicants for the School, the militarization of the institution's internal regulations and to the changes in the list of disciplines. The author concludes that major changes took place in 1845-1855 in the educational space of the School of Law. These changes were not limited to the formalization and militarization of various aspects that were typical of the life of Russian educational institutions during that period. The School director A.P. Yazykov managed to make significant positive changes in the training course, which helped to improve the quality of training of the professionals for the public civil service.
