The aim of the present article is to analyze the adjective right as a polysemantic word in order to identify evaluative meanings actualized in different contextual conditions. The research is based on examples borrowed from the British National Corpus and explanatory English dictionaries. The results of the research include some rational evaluations rendered by the adjective right which follow the corresponding sections of modal logic. Peripheral meanings of the adjective right and their relation to the evaluations mentioned are also considered. The author also compares the communicative functions of right as a partial evaluation and good as a general evaluation .
