The article discusses the egocentric elements expressing the truthfulness of a proposition blizko k istine (close to the truth) , nedaleko ot istiny (not far from the truth) , v istinnom smysle slova (in the true sense of the word) and the modal adverb poistine (truly) in academic discourse. A direct reference to the truthfulness of the statement in academic discourse is redundant and serves the speaker to express the subjective modality. Such elements exhibit a variety of modal meanings from uncertainty and evasion of epistemic responsibility to expressed emotionality and categorical nature of a statement.
