The history of independent Croatia is inextricably linked with the name of Franjo Tudjman, its first president. In the works of post-Yugoslav, primarily Serbian, historians, their Western colleagues, and Russian scholars, he is blamed for radical nationalism, the collapse of Yugoslavia, and the horrors of the bloody conflicts that followed. Among those who defend him are the authors of the «Review of Croatian History» journal published by the Croatian Institute of History. An analysis of their work allows us to get an idea of the historiographic narrative that has been created about Tudjman in Croatia in recent decades.
