The article discusses antonymic relations of polysemantic adjectives cold - hot in literal and figurative meanings. The purpose of the research is to identify the semantic symmetry and asymmetry of the antonyms cold-hot by analyzing their similarities and differences in lexical collocations. The result of the study shows that in the meaning of the temperature category, the majority of collocations of antonymic pairs hot and cold are parallel and symmetrical. Lexemes сold - hot also form an antonymic pair in partially figurative meanings, but there is a significant difference between the collocations. Even if they are combined with the same noun, they can express different semantic categories. This is the essence of semantic asymmetry of the adjectives cold - hot . It should be noted that the asymmetry of an antonymic pair also depends on the semantic matching of adjectives with nouns in the collocations.
