The article presents an analysis of the current situation with the protection of women's rights in Russia. The definition of women's rights, their types and means of ensuring them is given. Special attention is paid to the role of the High Commissioner for human rights in the Russian Federation in the promotion and protection of women's rights, particularly, to the efforts to improve legislation in this area. Separately, issues of protection of women's rights in places of detention are considered. Conclusions regarding the improvement of the legal status of women are proposed, reflecting the idea of creating unified standards and principles for the protection of women's rights.
