| This article considers some issues of legal regulation of the relations in education regarding conditions and procedures for the suspension of education on the student’s initiative. Based on an analysis of existing legal acts and actual relations between educational institutions and students when applying for a leave of absence during the period of studies, the authors conclude that there is no balance between the rights and obligations of the parties participating in the educational process. The lack of detail in the federal legislation creates the possibility for abuse by students of their rights and puts a number of questions before educational institutions related to the preservation of the terms and conditions for students’ training when they take a leave during their studies. The authors believe that the existing procedure for granting leaves of absence should be optimized. |
