| The article considers the history of the Nizhny Novgorod State Free Art Workshops (1919-1921) as the first state art educational institution in the city opened during the reform of art education. Workshops were important as an independent phenomenon in the period of formation of proletarian culture institutions, and also became the basis for the establishment of an Art College in Nizhny Novgorod, and an Art Academy later. |
