The article presents some results of the joint research project of Russian and Kazakh scientists on contrastive linguo-culturological analysis of Russian-Kazakh phraseological correlations. The phenomenon of phraseological agnonymy is discussed. The facts of agnonymy convey, on the one hand, the individual personality of unfilled cells in the vocabulary of a native speaker, and on the other hand, they reveal areas of agnonymic activity typical of a modern linguistic personality. The authors argue that phraseological agnonymy reflects the attitude of the speaking person to the elements of his vocabulary, the way these elements exist in his mind rather than an objective correlation of words in language and speech. Accordingly, it is only possible to identify such units by observing the nature of the speech behavior of the speaking person.
