The article presents a confrontative linguo-culturological description of the universal category «l’ubov’» («love») in different language pictures of the world. The aim is to give poly-lingual contrastive analysis of the synonymic chains objectifying the concept «l’ubov’» («love») in English, Russian, Spanish and Chinese linguo-cultures. The methodology of the research is based on the linguo-culturological approach. The research is performed using the method of contrastive linguo-culturological analysis of conceptual content and language objectification of the concept. The material of the study is based on the data of the main English, Russian, Spanish and Chinese dictionaries. Practical implications of the research include the possibility to use its results for teaching Russian as a foreign language for Chinese graduate and post-graduate students. The results can be also used in the theory and practice of compiling the innovative dictionaries of concepts and linguo-cultural thesauri. It is shown that in the language embodiment of the concept «l’ubov’» («love») there are significant differencies in different language pictures of the world. This is related to the degree of differentiation of the concept space, the nature of the feeling, the intensity of its expression, and also the type of the objects of this feeling.
