The paradigmatic relations of the lexeme death are analyzed on the basis of the material from the National Corpus of the Russian language and the dictionaries of Russian synonyms. It is revealed that the synonyms include a lot of colloquial, folk-poetic, as well as high-flown, bookish units. Many of these units are a result of the euphemization process. We identify some semantic indicators that distinguish ideographic, stylistic and semantic-stylistic synonyms from the dominant of the synonymic series - the word death . To study synonymic correlations of the lexeme death, we used general scientific (descriptive and continuous sampling method) as well as particular linguistic methods (contextual analysis method) .
