The article gives the definition of civil society and the classification of its institutions. It analyses the federal laws and regulations defining the role of civil society institutions in assuring national and migration security of the Russian Federation. The author reveals the regulatory influence of non-commercial public organizations on migration processes aimed at integrating migrants into Russian society and resolving the problems of realization of foreigners’ rights within the Russian Federation. The functioning of the institution of public control over the work of state authorities in the migration sphere is considered using the example of the activity of public chambers, public councils, and public monitoring commissions. It is concluded that civil society institutions make a significant contribution to the implementation of migration policy and assuring migration security in Russia.
