Abstract
The article presents a study of the judicial system of the Russian state in the 15th - 17th centuries. One of the peculiarities of justice during the formation of a single centralized state was the replacement of the Boyarsky Sud (court of the aristocracy) by the Prikaz (professional legal proceedings), which limited the powers of the privileged class in the resolution of disputes arising among the population. The article also reflects the forms of public participation in the formation and functioning of courts at various levels. In our work, we used historical approach to the phenomena being studied, general scientific methods of cognition, such as deduction, induction, analysis, as well as the dialectical method, as well as formal legal, comparative legal methods that allow us to consider the prerequisites for the origin, formation and development of phenomena in their systemic formation, interrelation and interdependence.
