The aim of this paper is to analyze semantic and stylistic features of the usage of lexical items of the thematic group «Clothes» in M. Matusovsky’s poetry collection «Donbass, My Fathers' Land». In our study of poetic texts and in our research of semantic and stylistic features of lexical units, the following methods were used: analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, and experiment. Various sets of lexical items were analyzed, such as «general designations», «various undergarments, clothes and their parts», «shoes, gloves», «headwear». It was established that the names of items of clothing are represented by words with neutral connotation, as well as by those stylistically marked (colloquial and expressive). Particular attention was paid to lexical items that are not widely used in modern discourse. It is concluded that the usage of various lexical units of the thematic group «Clothes» is one of the means for creating the flavor of the era, the portrait characteristics of the personas, and the author’s assessment of events.
