The official calendar of holidays and memorable days in Croatia has undergone changes at the end of 2019. The reformers have partially restored the tradition of the 1990s, which had been canceled at the previous stage in the process of «detudjmanization» in the early 2000s. In addition, completely new dates were added to the calendar. It was proclaimed that the goal of the reform is national consolidation and positioning of Croatia as a member state of the European Union. It was also evident that the ruling party was keen to use the calendar to mobilize its supporters prior to the parliamentary elections scheduled for July 2020. These transformations have stimulated a debate about the politics of history in Croatia, which is still heavily dependent on the tragic legacy of the conflict-ridden 90s.
