The article dwells on the peculiarities of translating Russian place names of Murmansk region into English in order to further use the translation in maps and reference books for tourists. Pragmatic aspect of translation for tourism industry is highlighted by the author. A special attention is paid to national place names as elements reflecting history of the region, linguistic word-building peculiarities, specificity of local people mentality and attracting special attention of the tourists. |
