The article is devoted to the problem of developing political and legal principles for resolving conflicts on religious grounds. The article gives a detailed analysis of the preconditions for the formation of modern secular political and legal concepts. The author describes the features of the law and society of European states in the context of secularization of the public sphere. In conclusion the author concludes that the legal mechanisms for resolving religious conflicts at the present stage of development of society require the development of conceptually new political and legal theories that take into account the realities of the postsecular world.
