The paper deals with such a kind of communicative tonality as colloquial discourse tonality which is considered to be the leading tonality of everyday discourse. The purpose of this research is to determine specific features of colloquial discourse tonality and classify its types. The differences between colloquial tonality and colloquial communication are analyzed. The identified types of tonality are exemplified by excerpts of English and Russian film discourse. The novelty of this investigation consists in the identification of colloquial tonality discourse features as well as designing the classification of its types. As a result, it was found that colloquial tonality is related to colloquial communication as part of the whole. The typology under consideration is based on the following criteria: type of relationship between participants of communication, situation of communication, sphere of communication and language of communication.
