Abstract
The article covers some peculiarities of translating language games in the works of comic genre and achieving pragmatic adaptation while translating texts from English into Russian. The purpose of the research is to find out the most common ways of creation and translation of language games in the genre of humorous fantasy. When translating works of comic genre, the translator has to create a definite pragmatic effect upon a reader. As humour is nationally determined, the process of translation is connected with the pragmatic adaptation of the original text. The novelty of the research consists in parallel linguistic and cultural analysis of both created and recreated comic texts. The article concludes that the efficiency of translation depends on a number of linguistic and extra-linguistic factors and is not related to the total equality of the original text and its translation.
