The article presents different variations of translation transformations and their practical application when translat- ing headlines of British and American online newspapers. The subject of the work is to assess relevance and necessity of using transformations based on the materials from the websites Inosmi.ru and Inopressa.ru. The research approaches existing translations of headlines from political, economic, and social articles where lexical, grammatical, and mixed transformations are used. The research revealed examples for each transformations of these types used with various frequency and assessed their necessity in reflecting author’s ideas most precisely.
