In this article, using a comparative legal method and a retrospective analysis of the legislation of control and supervisory activities, the author examines the principles governing the organization and conduct of control and supervisory activities of the CIS member states. A brief description of the principles of state control (supervision) and municipal control in the Russian Federation is presented. An overview of the principles of control and supervision of Great Britain and Spain is made. The main aspects of the analysis of the provisions on the principles of control and supervisory activities of the CIS member states are determined. The conclusion is made about the varying degree of elaboration of the provisions on the principles of control and supervision of the CIS member states, the advantage of the system of principles of control and supervisory activities in the Russian Federation is emphasized, it is proposed to supplement the system of principles.
