The article reveals the cases of the domestic criminal procedure doctrine that determine the place and role of a special ruling in the system of court decisions regulating the making of a special ruling (court ruling) in the process of criminal procedure. The authors determine the essential features of a special ruling (court ruling) in the system of court decisions, as a final court decision, basing on the analysis of judicial practice.Basing on the generalization of statistical data for the period 2016-2019 presented at the level of the federal segment, the issues of conditionality of the use of the resource of a special ruling (court ruling) by the courts of primary jurisdiction are investigated by such parameters as: the category of crime on which a criminal case was considered against a particular person (Article 15 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation); the composition of the court when considering a criminal case and materials determined according to Article 30 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation; types of identified circumstances and violations when considering a criminal case and materials; execution of court orders set in special rulings (court rulings).
