The article considers role of linguistic metaphor in Fyodor Abramov’s novel «Brothers and sisters». All types of lin- guistic metaphor are analyzed in the paper. The way in which metaphor is used in the novel «Brothers and sisters» testifies to originality of the writer’s linguistic manner, makes understand the concept of the novel, get an adequate characterization of characters, their feelings and surrounding reality. Combination of various types of linguistic metaphor allows a reader to take the novel as a whole.
