The article is dedicated to the concept of "creativity" which is an important component of the world picture for any creator. The authors rely on the hypothesis that the idea of the purpose, motivation, working methods, author's and reader's attitude differ depending on the epoch and writer's ideological point of view. The theocentrism of the world view, tipical for Old Russian period, dictates to the authors special creativity rules: creative activity is elevated to the status of the main task of life creation which means arranging one's life according to God's commandments. As a result of the study, the authors conclude that the concept of "creativity" has significant specifics due to the close connection of the its idea with the ideas of godlike person, soul salvation, etc.
