Abstract
The article appeals to the study of Medieval Latin bestiaries in the context of the imagination of harmony in the Middle Ages. The purpose of the article is the analysis of the ideas about the harmony of the animal world described by the medieval Latin bestiary. The author based on the Transitional family of Medieval Latin bestiaries and used two manuscripts - St. Petesburg and Worksop bestiaries, because harmony as an idea is extremely important and the best way shown in this text revision. The author resorts to general scientific methods (analysis and synthesis), hermeneutical and structural analysis, historical and typological method. Based on the manuscripts, the author demonstrates how image of harmony is revealed in the images of animals and the structure of the text itself. Questions are being raised about how "monsters" and unclean creatures fit into the animal world. The author draws conclusions about the immanent presence of harmony as an organizing principle. Aspects of the idea of harmony in bestiaries are highlighted: diversity of the world in general and animals in particular, their orderliness, quasi-hierarchy, consistency.
