The article presents an analysis of the paremic units of the Russian and Czech languages in the context of the dichot- omy «own-alien». Proverbs with semantic centers «animal image», «religious ideas» and «natural images» are described. The most frequent lexemes involved in the formation of the metaphorical integrity of the paroemias of different Slavic languages are revealed. Thematic groups representing the most significant aspects of human life are highlighted. Semantic, structural and stylistic means of creating allegory in the units of the paremiological fund are determined. The characteristic features of the world outlook of the compared peoples are established, expressing a specific attitude to the phenomena and events of the real world. The features of the functioning of paremic units in speech discourse are considered. The comparative method is the main one in the work, along with the descriptive method, elements of the method of linguoculturological analysis and component analysis are used.
