The main purpose of the study is to show, via the analysis of the provisions of the federal state legal educational standards, which entail the need for the formation of project competencies of future lawyers, the relevance of project activities in the structure of the main legal educational programs, to determine the types of professional tasks requiring project work, to demonstrate, in the context of the analysis of the lawyers’ training practice at Siberian Federal University, what educational technologies make it possible to build the project competencies of a future lawyer most effectively.The authors use systemic, comparative and historical analysis as the main methods. The article is concerned with the process of project competencies formation via project technologies. The results of the study can be used both for scientific purposes and in respect of the applied aspect. In conclusion, the authors infer that when developing a main educational program according to the current standards, it is necessary to consider the historical experience in implementation of project work into the domestic education.
