The article compares the principles of creating historical dictionaries using the example of the most important dictionaries of the Russian and Chinese languages. Russian dictionaries that record the change in the meaning of a word are created for any language, however, the structural differences between Russian and Chinese languages, as well as the peculiarities of the linguistic tradition, contribute to deep discrepancies that are found in the structure of the historical dictionary of Russian and Chinese, in the volume and nature of the lexicographic information provided by the dictionary.
