The study of the class structure of the provincial society of the XVIII century requires the involvement of mass sources, such as documents of the parish registration of the population. In result of the analysis of confessional murals (as a source for fixing the class structure of the the Pskov province population in the XVIII century) it is possible to establish that their pages were joined together by a staple in the form of part of words or individual letters that were written at the bottom of the sheet. The confessional painting ended with a table showing data on the number of female and male parishioners by rank, in accordance with the accepted social structure.
